Independent Pet Crematorium Resting Paws Reopens in Annfield Plain

Resting Paws, owned by former veterinary nurse and dog groomer Claire Robbins, has recently relocated from its former home at Wheelbirks Estate to new premises in Annfield Plain.

The New Premises

The new premises, situated on the Willow Way Estate, have been carefully developed across three adjoining units, providing dedicated areas for individual pet cremations, memorial preparation and future reception and farewell facilities.

At the heart of Resting Paws is a commitment to providing a compassionate, personal service, ensuring every pet is treated with dignity and respect throughout their final journey.

Choice for Pet Owners

Claire is passionate about raising awareness that pet owners are not obliged to use the cremation service offered through their veterinary practice and can instead make their own arrangements with an independent pet crematorium.

Claire said:

Losing a pet is heartbreaking, and often people are making decisions at a time when they're overwhelmed with grief. I think it's important that owners know they have a choice and can decide who they want to entrust their pet to.

Individual Cremations

Every cremation at Resting Paws is carried out individually, with ashes usually returned to owners within 24 hours. Claire also personally creates the memorial boxes in which pets' ashes are returned, offering families a meaningful and personalised keepsake.

Claire added:

When someone places their pet in my care, they're trusting me with a much-loved member of their family. I want them to know where their pet is going, who is caring for them, and that they'll be treated with the kindness and respect they deserve.

Collection Service

For now, Resting Paws is operating a collection service from owners' homes and veterinary practices, with plans to welcome visitors once the new reception and farewell facilities are completed.

Claire added:

Every pet is special, and I never forget that. If I can bring even a little comfort to someone during one of the hardest moments of their life, it's something that genuinely feeds my soul. Being chosen as the last person to care for a beloved pet is a privilege that I never take for granted.

Resting Paws Pet Cremation is based at Units 8 - 10, Willow Way, Greencroft Industrial Park, Annfield Plain, and supports pet owners throughout Consett, Stanley and the surrounding areas.
